I daglig tale er der mange, som kender GTIN som en stregkode, men teknisk set er GTIN det nummer, som findes under selve stregkode-symbolet, og kan derfor også bruges til andre teknologier som fx 2D stregkoder og RFID tags.
In this guide, we will show you how to import your product and packaging data into GS1Trade Packaging using the data import template.
The data import template is designed to import product data, packaging components, and packaging units, helping you get your basic data in place.
You can then create integrated components and packaging systems within the platform by following the respective guides.
From the frontpage, click on 'Import' in the upper right corner. Here, you can choose to download a single template for your own use or multiple templates for your suppliers.
Please note that each supplier must have their own unique import template, as each file comes with a unique ID. Excel files cannot be reused or copied.
For this example, we will download a single template for our own use.
We will start by creating products, packaging components, and packaging units separately. Then, we will link them together.
The order is not important, but we recommend starting with creating the packaging components.
In this example, we will create a jam product: The packaging components for this are a jar, a label, and a lid.
Go to the PackagingComponent tab.
Fill out the required data fields: Name, Element type, type, weight and unit of measurement.
Additionally, you can fill out further technical properties, but this is not required for data import.
For each packaging component, you must specify a Packaging component reference identifier.
Go to the PackagingUnit tab.
Fill out the required data fields: Name, Type and Status.
Specify the Packaging unit reference identifier for each packaging unit.
You will use this to link your packaging components to a packaging unit and subsequently link your packaging unit to one or more products.
Go to the Product tab.
Fill out the requied data fields: Brand name, Product name, Language, Product ID, GTIN (optinal), Net content, Unit of measurement og Status.
Specify the Product reference identifier for each product. You will use this to link your packaging unit to one or more products.
Go to the ComponentToUnitAssociate tab.
Insert the reference number of the components in the cokumn, Packaging Component reference identifier.
Insert the reference number of the packaging unit they are part of in the column, Packaging Unit reference identifier.
Now you have connected the components to a unit. Next step is associating packaging units to the product.
Go to the ProductAssociate tab.
Insert the reference number of the product in the column, Product reference identifier.
Insert the reference number of the packaging unit in the column, Packaging Unit reference identifier.
You have now linked the packaging unit with the product.
If you have multiple products using the same packaging, you can easily link the packaging unit to multiple products.
When you are finished, save the file on your computer.
Open GS1Trade Packaging and select Import.
Click on the upload field or drag the Excel file into the upload field.
The processing will start automatically.
If the file is filled out correctly, the status will change from Waiting in queue to Import completed.
If the import fails, the status will show an error message and an Excel file will be created for download, with an overview of the given errors.
